About Us
Congregation Beth Shalom is a progressive Conservative synagogue that has been serving the metro Detroit Jewish community for almost 60 years. We are a diverse community, proud of the open, welcoming environment we have created, which is reflected in our mission. Beth Shalom provides a vital link between the generations with innovative, stimulating and diverse spiritual, educational, social and leadership opportunities for all ages that nurture our love of and commitment to Jewish life, our Synagogue and the State of Israel. Our religious services are warm, spiritual and inclusive. A variety of services, from traditional to creative-themed to alternative formats, offers options that appeal to the different tastes of our members.
Beth Shalom attracts members from the surrounding neighborhoods of Oak Park, Huntington Woods, Berkley, Royal Oak and Southfield, as well as others in our widespread community. We welcome all visitors to join our Beth Shalom family in experiencing any of our religious services. We also invite you to join us for the many holiday celebrations, family and social events we hold throughout the year.
Membership
We would love to have you join our shul and offer a special dues plan for new members. For information regarding the benefits of membership, please contact Shira Shapiro, our Executive Director (248-547-7970 or sshapiro@congbethshalom.org). Membership dues are our main source of revenue, but we try to accommodate everyone's financial circumstances. You may complete the membership application, download it and return it to Sheryl Kaminer (skaminer@congbethshalom.org) in the synagogue office.
